In first ever candidate endorsement, ActJew endorses Jenifer Rajkumar for State Assembly in Queens
NEW YORK -- ActJew, a new organization focused on Jewish civic engagement, today announced their first ever endorsement after the Board of Directors voted unanimously to back Queens Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar in the June Democratic Primary.
“On issues ranging from Israel to public safety and civil rights Assembly Member Rajkumar has always stood by the Jewish community and today we’re proud to return the favor by making her the first candidate we endorse,” said Michael A. Harris, Chairman & CEO of ActJew. “With her record of leadership and commitment to supporting her Jewish constituents we believe that she is the best candidate to represent the people of the 38th Assembly district.”
Shortly before taking to the stage at her campaign launch party in Woodhaven, Rajkumar said she was “truly honored” to receive the endorsement and looked forward to continuing to work with her Jewish constituents.
Rajkumar’s district includes parts of Ridgewood, Woodhaven, Ozone Park, Glendale and Richmond Hill. Her opponent in the June primary, David Orkin is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and has been openly and unabashedly hostile to Israel.
